10 December 2007

The beautiful Luminarie is a symbol of restoring and reconstruction of Kobe after 1995's Great Hanshin Earthquake. It has been held every year in the December since 1996. Volunteers decorate the Luminarie with different designs every year. People will line up in front of the grand Luminarie for the witness of the light up before 6pm.

Before

After

The moment of the light up is unforgettable and worth for whole life remembrance. At that moment, you will hear people's applause and feel moved from it. People head to the Luminarie and cross from gate to gate of the Luminarie.

2nd Luminarie

only up no down- notice those people in the photo:)

It looks like a type of mosque design in Malaysia. I feel it is so familiar to me at the first time I saw this.

Kobe, Japan

Kobe is is the capital city of Hyogo Prefecture and a prominent port city in Japan. Kobe is famous for Kobe beef, while there are notable buildings includes "Kazamidori no yakata" as well as Kobe Port Tower. Kobe is also known for having a somewhat exotic atmosphere by Japanese standards. Kobe is historically a famous port which open to foreign countries. The city is also widely associated with cosmopolitanism and fashion among other cities in Japan.

"Kazamidori no yakata"

"Moegi-no-yakata"

"Line House"

My favourite food

This is Japanese breakfast which is "asa gohan" in Japanese language. There are baked salty salmon, tofu, nattou (a type of fermented soya bean-natto ), rice, miso soup and spinach. It contains such a lot of dishes in one meal. It is a very healthy meal which you will really get full from it. I was quite surprised when I knew that Japanese breakfast is like this:)

Udon is a type of Japanese noodle which we can find in our country as well. Normally the soup is made from seaweed and dried fish. Bacon, bean sprout, sungan and green onion are used as topping for it. This can be easily made in the house because the ready made ingredients can easily get from supermarket in Japan.

The best thing in Japan is only the oishiiiiiiii food...

Ready for Picnic :)

Pudding and Onigiri...Onigiri is a rice ball containing with different types of ingredients such as tuna, seaweed, sour plum, salmon, BBQ etc. and covered with seaweed that is well known in Malaysia as "nori". One piece is around 100-120 yen, around RM3-4. Pudding is an originally European sweet but it is quite popular in Japan. You can buy anywhere.

NOT ONLY SALMON!!!

This is the sushi set ordered under free delivery service. They deliver all type of fresh sushi to your door step. You can enjoy various kinds of fish as well.

Served in HOT...

Kobe Motomachi (China Town) offers plenty of Chinese food. This spot is always crowded with tourists from inside and outside of Japan. Kobe is the oldest international port town beside Osaka. Siao Loon Pao, Dim Sum, Sui Gao, noodle soup (lamen) are served with reasonable price. People make queue at certain popular shops. I tried this pao and the siao loon pao. It is juicy in your bites with rich taste.

Melting on your Tongue :p

Gyuudon (cooked beef served on rice) is one of the most popular fast food in Japan. Beef contains slight amount of the fat which makes the beef itself soft and juicy. You can add the ginger and chili pepper according to personal preference. You can order raw egg additionally as well. One bowl is around 280 yen which is about RM 9. Balance of the meat and the rice are amazing!

Enjoy the soup also until you see
the BOTTOM of the bowl...

Kinryuu ramen (Golden Dragon Noodle) in Osaka. Difference between Japanese ramen and Chinese noodle soup is the SOUP. Japanese ramen soup contains many flavour such as chicken, pork, various kinds of vegetables etc.
